Gold coins and com crystral receivers (red) are often used to make embers. Shadow ore looks like coal, and Dull Copper does a nice job of imitating ashes. Torches, candles, com crystals, forges and hidden lanterns can cause your fire to actually glow. Logs and Kindling look a lot like....logs and kindling.
