NOTE: With AoS the stone table Vanity can no
longer be made. Banging the front table with an axe redeeds the table! DOH!
-- The black top Vanity at the top is your only option. I will be putting
up more detailed instructions for the Black Top Vanity as soon as possible!
Val wrote in and asked me how one makes a mirrored vanity. Talk about petting MY vanity! That's something I invented! I wanted a vanity ever since I saw the broken ones in Coveteous, but I saw no way to make my own until glacial staves appeared in game. The original vanity I made looked like this:
You make the base by stacking two stacks of two true black cloth on top of dyed small tables. But now, with the addition of stone crafting items, it's much easier to make one and also save on the lockdowns! It's a bit expensive (or time consuming) to make, as you need to buy or gather quite a few glacial staves!
1) Place one of the large tables where you want the vanity to go.
2) Stack all seven glacial staves on top of the table. You want to target near the back along the left edge (where the cursor is pointing) to make the glacials stack correctly.
3) Top with the Gnarled Staff or a Quarter Staff.
4) Using your dec tool, raise the gnarled staff two spaces.
5) Using your dec tool, one by one raise each of the seven glacial staves two spaces, starting with the highest and working your way down to the lowest.
Note: Now, you have two spaces UNDER the mirror where you can fit a few things onto the vanity. Some things, like the disguise kit, do not stack correctly. They will pop behind the mirror. Try things like gems, jewelry or a bottle of hair dye. Remember that you can LOWER things. This bottle of hair dye was placed "under" the mirror and then lowed two times with the tool. The bracelet of sending did not need to be lowered at all, and the flask of oil was lowered once.
6) Place the second table in front of the first table so it lines up, as in the picture above.
7) Place your other goodies on the front table, in all three spaces. You can fit more than one thing by raising and lowering with the dec tool, and by seeing what stacks well with something else. The tall candle and the disguise kit, for example, do not touch each other when placed on the table.
8) Raise the item you put in the MIDDLE of the front table as high as it will go. I chose an Agapyte necklace.
Note: The necklace turned out to be a bad choice as it will not raise high
enough. It blocks your head later when you sit at the vanity. Things that
can raise high enough: Hair Dye, Disguise Kit. I am sure others will as well---Experiment.Or
you can stack fish/newbie gold and let it decay---you can get objects ONE
place higher by stacking manually than you can with a tool.
9) Use an axe or hatchet to pop the CENTER tile of the front table.
10) Place a stool in the hole and lock it down.
Ta DA! You have a Mirrored Vanity! You can use any color of stone table-just
remember to dye your stool to match. At my house I have an Agapyte vanity,
shown above. And you can use whatever you like for your vanity toppers. Use
items you can find easily at the NPC stores or show off your old 1000 diamond
jewelry, tree ornament jewelry, neon or colored hair dye bottles….As you
can see I shifted around a few things once I was finished. Just experiment
with your objects until your vanity pleases you!
